Your favorite Wine Tour de France series is back in person!

Whitney Schubert, French Portfolio Manager at Polaner Selections, and Blaine Ashley, founder of New York Champagne Week, lead the first wine tasting of the series showcasing premier Rosé Champagne.

Rosé Champagne has enjoyed a new popularity in recent years, and is often considered more complex since it is labor-intensive and time-consuming to produce.

Rosé Champagne has many faces ranging from delicate and fruity to rich and full-bodied. In this masterclass, you will taste blended “assemblage” rosés as well as a macerated and bled “saignée” rosé. We will explore an array of grape varieties, terroirs, and vinification processes from a selection of top growers spanning the major sub-regions of Champagne. In honor of Earth Month, we are pleased to feature growers dedicated to sustainable farming in all its iterations.

    • She serves as a liaison between over 100 wineries and wine buyers (sommeliers, wine retailers) in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. As a child of a Diesel mechanic who specializes in the repair of farm equipment, Whitney spent her youth around farmers. Her early curiosities about wine stemmed from her interest in agriculture and that interest has grown to include various iterations of sustainable farming including organics, biodynamics and regenerative agriculture. She is honored to represent a dynamic portfolio of wine growers and she is humbled by the small role she plays in ensuring their family businesses are passed on to the next generation.

Whitney Schubert is a native Oregonian living in Brooklyn, NY.

Blaine Ashley

Blaine Ashley is the founder of New York Champagne Week, which debuted in November 2013. This year’s edition will be from November 7–13, 2022.

    • The week’s ethos is and has always been to promote the champagne category through a variety of creative events, pairing experiences, brand launches, new release reveals, interactive tastings, seminars and more.

This effervescent week of events initially served as a vehicle to connect the champagne region and brands to prospective buyers and press. In the past two years, New York Champagne Week has broadened its audience to also appeal to the champagne consumer with affordable, approachable, inclusive and interactive events.

In 2018, Ashley launched The FIZZ is Female, a women’s empowerment platform that shines a spotlight on leading women in sparkling wine from around the world.

In 2016, Ashley’s focus on all things bubbly awarded her a nod in Wine Enthusiast magazine as a 40 under 40 Tastemaker where she was aptly dubbed ‘The Champagne Queen’.
