Burning Bright: New French Filmmakers, an annual highlight of FIAF’s popular CinéSalon series, returns Tuesdays from May 7 to June 25, 2019 with recent noteworthy films by nine exciting filmmakers, including seven US and NY premieres.

This spring, Burning Bright will reveal the creativity and innovation of French cinema today with poignant coming of age tales told through vibrant new voices, fascinating fusions of genres such as documentary and musical theater, and many instances that blur reality and fiction in urgent ways.

Q&A with director Michaël Dacheux following the 7:30pm screening

25-year-old Martin arrives in Paris from the provinces to try to reunite with his first love Léa. Following the classic Balzac theme, Michaël Dacheux’s debut film updates the stylistic tropes of French New Wave to include queer desire.
