Exams for French Students & Workers in the U.S.


In agreement with the Service de Coopération et d’Action Culturelle (SCAC) of the French Embassy, FIAF offers French proficiency evaluations to French students and workers who live in the U.S. Read more.


Exams for Kids & Teens


DELF PRIM (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française PRIM) is an official diploma awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify the proficiency in French as a Foreign Language of children ages 8 to 12. Read more.

DELF Junior is a specially adapted version for juniors/teenagers of the DELF diplomas. DELF (Diplôme d’ Études en Langue Française) is an official qualification awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify the competency of candidates from outside France in the French language. Exams for Adults


Important: The TCF IRN and TEF IRN as well as the DELF B1 up to DALF C2 are recognized by the French government to certify the level of French of persons applying for French citizenship.

DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) and DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) are official qualifications awarded by the French Ministry of Education certifying level of fluency in French. Useful for school records and college and job applications in French-speaking countries. Scores valid for life. Read more.

TCF Canada is intended for anyone 16 years of age or over, regardless of their nationality or native tongue, needing to certify their level of French as part of the procedures for economic immigration to Canada or for obtaining Canadian citizenship. Read more.

As of January 2022, the Test de connaissance du français Intégration, Résidence, Nationalité (TCF IRN), newly introduced by the French Ministry for the Interior, allows you to certify your level of French for French nationality, for a long-term resident card and as part of the citizen course. The TCF (Test de connaissance du français), designed by France Ėducation International (FEI) and accredited by the French Ministry of Education, is a French language proficiency test for non-native speakers of French who wish to evaluate and have their level of proficiency certified for professional, academic or personal reasons. TEF Canada is required by the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC- Canadian Federal Government) for the linguistic evaluation of immigration applicants belonging to the category “skilled workers”. Read more.

As of January 2022, the Test d’évaluation de français Intégration, Résidence, Nationalité (TEF IRN), newly introduced by the French Ministry for the Interior, is required for anyone applying to the French State for a resident card or a naturalization. Read more.
