Overview of French Courses for Adults

When are classes offered?
FIAF offers 11-week (10-week in the summer), 5-week, 2-week and 1-week classes, as well as 1-to-3 hour long workshops over 4 sessions in the year – Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.
Weekday and Saturday classes are offered at convenient times in the morning, afternoon, and evening.
Class Levels

FIAF offers classes and workshops at five proficiency levels in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF), the guideline used internationally to describe the level of fluency achieved by a foreign language learner.
Introduction to French
Hours: 20-22
Gain the essential tools to start learning French in a short primer course led in English and French. This course is optional and only for students who have never studied French before.
Beginner A1
Sub-Levels: A1.1, A1.2, A1.3, A1.4
Hours: 120-132
Build a solid foundation in the French language! Learn familiar everyday expressions and basic phrases.
Advanced Beginner A2
Sub-Levels: A2.1, A2.2, A2.3, A2.4
Hours: 120-132
Reinforce your understanding of topics relating to everyday life and your ability to interact in French.
Intermediate B1
Sub-Levels: B1.1, B1.2, B1.3, B1.4
Hours: 120-132
Strengthen your communication skills and understand the main points of conversation with a native speaker.
Advanced B2
Sub-Levels: B2.1, B2.2, B2.3, B2.4
Hours: 120-132
Broaden your knowledge of the structure and use of French language while speaking with a degree of fluency.
Expert C1/C2
Sub-Levels: C1.1, C1.2, C1.3, C2.4, C2.5, C2.6
Hours: 120-198
Master the French language and be able to express yourself spontaneously with native speakers.

Prices for Skill Strengthening and Culture classes vary from $190 to $680.

How to Choose a Course?
If you have never taken French before:
Start with any one of our Beginner A1 level classes which are designed specifically for students who have never studied French before.
If you know some French:
Take our free 10-minute placement test, either online or in person, followed by a one-on-one discussion with a FIAF teacher, and we will help you determine your exact level of French and help you choose a class that is perfect for you.
