Elise in Brest, Alexia in Saint-Etienne, Cécile in Compiègne, and Jill in Marseille are just four of thousands of young women denouncing sexist violence, public harassment and macho aggression to which they are subjected on a daily basis. Using simple white paper and black paint, they are part of a movement to plaster the streets with messages of support for victims of misogyny and slogans decrying femicide. Some are long-standing feminists, others have never spoken out politically before, but all are in revolt against the abuse that has too often overwhelmed their lives.

Directors Simon Depardon and Marie Perennès will be in attendance for a Q&A following the 7:30pm screening. The Happy Hour from 5:30–7:30pm is open to attendees of both screenings.

“Feisty and aesthetic, this Riposte is also a beautiful gesture of cinema by its judicious bias to film the collage sessions in fixed shot.” — Télérama
