Ranging from the classic to the contemporary, the fantastical to the brooding, there’s something for everyone in this CinéSalon selection of eight French musical comedies!

The series includes musicals from some of the greatest directors including Jacques Demy, Alain Renais, and Chantal Akerman. Enjoy Demy’s enchanted Donkey Skin starring Catherine Deneuve, Resnais’ Same Old Song with music by Bruno Fontaine, and Akerman’s exuberant Golden Eighties, a musical that croons about feminism and consumerism.

Christophe Honoré’s romantic Beloved, with an all-star cast including Louis Garrel, Leos Carax’s rock opera Annette, Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau’s Jeanne and the Perfect Guy, Jacques Rivette’s Up, Down, Fragile, and Serge Bozon’s contemporary Don Juan complete the series.
